The term “technology” can also refer to the product of such an endeavor: Technology is the application of knowledge to achieve specific and repeatable practical objectives.117 The fields of medicine, science, industry, communication, transportation, and everyday life all make extensive use of technology.
Technologies include tangible things like machines and utensils as well as intangible ones like software.Society has changed as a result of numerous technological advancements. The stone tool, which was used in the prehistoric era, is the earliest known technology. Then came fire use, which helped the human brain grow and language develop in the Ice Age. The wheel, which was invented in the Bronze Age, made it possible to travel farther and build more complex machines.
More recent technological advancements, like the printing press, the telephone, and the Internet, have made it easier to communicate with one another and launched the knowledge economy.Technological innovations like renewable energy in transportation and industry, genetically modified crops to address soil depletion, and space exploration to mitigate global catastrophic risks can all mitigate many of technology’s negative effects, such as pollution or resource depletion or social harms like technological unemployment caused by automation.
